After the two-week registration period is over, we take down all courses, to process registrations. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech savvy, we created a registration system we call The Lottery in which there is no advantage to registering early and no disadvantage to registering later.ĭuring this period, when you register, you will join the wait list for the course. Registration for courses will be become available 4 or 5 weeks prior to the start of the semester (we will announce the exact registration dates on our homepage and send an email announcement to all OLLI members) and will remain open during the entire two-week registration period. We are one in a network of 120 OLLI programs in the nation.Īs more adult programs become available in coming years, we hope to be at the leading edge. In 2007, TARP received a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation, and changed its name to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Temple University. In 1998, the name changed to Temple Association for Retired Professionals (TARP), and later to Temple Association for Retired Persons. At that time, only two similar programs existed in the United States. There were 85 members and 34 courses in the fall of 1976.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Temple University organized in 1975 and was known initially as Association of Retired Professionals (ARP). This includes support from Temple's Computer Services, Security, Facilities, Human Resources, and Accounts Payable departments, to name a few. Throughout the years, it has received substantial financial and in-kind support from Temple University. Staff will be available to assist with enrollment and registration the second and third weeks of August.Īlthough OLLI is co-driven by volunteers, it is a program of Temple University.
